Ahhh I spent so long on this ;A; And it wasn't even the coloring that took forever it was all of the details, so many details, but I'm honestly happy with each one I came up with. Each detail is hand drawn and designed by me >w<
This is my boy Migel, also known as Fenghuang, Feng or the Chinese Phoenix. He is the twin bother to Elliot, who is the Chinese Dragon. They both represent Yin and Yang ^^
I wanted to draw him all pretty and beautiful, filled with lots of simple details. So this is what I had managed to come up with. It was for new years, but I didn't finish it and I was told I should save it for the Chinese New Year. Which I know it's still a little bit always... but I really don't want to wait to upload it.
I really enjoy the composition here! The organic orange swirling shapes combined with the straightness of his silhouette makes for a very dynamic picture. The amount of detail and ornamentation in his clothing is gorgeous, and I like how you paid attention to traditional Chinese motifs and symbolism in his design. I think that the shading could be further improved upon by taking into consideration the light that the fire would cast. His skin and clothing should probably have a slight orange or warm cast from the fire. Overall, this is a very gorgeous piece- beautiful work; the watercolor-y traditional feel of this work really suits the character!
